Agriculture Ministry Updates Pest List
The Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Marine Fisheries announced the launch of an update process for the national list of quarantine pests, which has been in use since 2012, with the aim of strengthening Tunisia's plant health system. This update seeks to improve pest surveillance and prevention tools, and to develop classification and assessment methods in line with international standards, particularly by categorizing pests into A1 and A2 lists to ensure accurate risk identification. Over 60 experts and researchers participated in this initiative, which aims to support early detection and limit the spread of harmful organisms, while enhancing collaboration between scientific and technical institutions to protect crops and promote the sustainability of the country's agricultural sector.
