Kremlin: Putin downplays Ukraine talks during Trump call
The article focused on statements from the Kremlin indicating that Russian President Vladimir Putin told U.S. President Donald Trump that the war in Ukraine cannot progress toward swift negotiations due to Ukraine's escalation of attacks on Moscow and voting centers during the recent elections. Putin confirmed that Moscow was prepared to resume negotiations with Kyiv after the Russian elections, but Ukrainian attacks on voting centers and other civilian targets halted the possibility of restarting trilateral negotiations involving the United States, Russia, and Ukraine. The two sides also discussed economic initiatives, including supplies of Russian fuel, with Trump stating that Russia had agreed to immediately export diesel to the U.S. market and globally, aiming to lower fuel prices ahead of the U.S. midterm elections.
