Tunis Afrique Presse: Oil down, gas up in Tunisia
Tunisia plans to reorganize its energy policy by focusing on developing natural gas production, amid declining oil reserves and increased investment in projects to benefit from new gas discoveries. It also aims to increase the contribution of solar energy to electricity generation to 35% by 2030, and then to 50% by 2035, through diversifying energy sources and achieving self-sufficiency in renewable energies. Additionally, Tunisia is preparing to issue a new oil and gas law to regulate the sector and boost investments, while striving to restore phosphate production to 10 million tons annually and improve processing methods to increase added value. The success of this plan depends on implementing the projects and achieving tangible results to strengthen the national economy and reduce dependence on imports.
