British bookstores face crisis after Rooney's novels removed over Palestine support
British libraries are facing a free speech crisis after a publisher announced that Irish novelist Sally Roni's books are no longer being sold in the United Kingdom, due to her support for the "Palestine Action" group, which was designated as a terrorist organization by the British government in July 2025. It is worth noting that support for or membership in the group is punishable by up to 14 years in prison. Sally Roni, a successful author of four novels, had previously expressed her support for the movement that advocates for a boycott of Israel. This controversy highlights how governments are suppressing freedom of expression regarding Palestine and Israel issues, and enforcing censorship on books that support the Palestinian cause.
