Sousse Opens Seaside Desalination Plant
The seawater desalination plant in Sidi Abdel Hamid, Sousse, was inaugurated with a production capacity of 50,000 cubic meters per day (600 liters per second). Its goal is to address the water deficit that reached between 600 and 700 liters per second last year and to improve water distribution in the regions of Sousse, Monastir, Mahdia, Nabeul, and northern Sfax. The plant operates around the clock at a high efficiency in accordance with international standards and is part of efforts to conserve water resources in Tunisia. The project cost approximately 130.5 million dinars and is expected to benefit about 3.1 million people, aiming to reduce water shortages and promote sustainability.
