German Parliament offers youth retirement support
The German Parliament has approved a program for early retirement savings that grants children and young people aged 6 to 18 a monthly amount of 10 euros from the state as an initial capital for retirement savings, aiming to build a reasonable pension system and familiarize young people with capital markets. Voluntary contributions of up to 6,840 euros annually are permitted, which has sparked criticism from the opposition, who see the program as discriminating between social groups and exacerbating inequality. The program also requires approval from the Bundesrat (Council of States).
