France Protest Arrests and Injuries
Yesterday, France witnessed widespread protests against the rising cost of living. Security forces detained approximately 1,200 protesters, and 150 police officers were injured as violence erupted in many cities, notably Paris, Marseille, and Lyon. Security forces used tear gas and water cannons to disperse the demonstrators, who engaged in acts of vandalism including assaults on municipal buildings, damage to public and private property, as well as arson and street violence. These protests come six months ahead of the presidential elections and reflect public discontent over soaring prices, with authorities emphasizing their rejection of violence and their commitment to maintaining peaceful demonstrations.
