Japanese ambassador highlights 70th diplomatic anniversary
Japan and Tunisia are celebrating the seventy-year anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations. The Japanese ambassador to Tunisia emphasized that this occasion strengthens bilateral cooperation in areas such as the economy, investment, energy, and culture. He highlighted that economic collaboration includes projects like the seawater desalination plant in Sfax, which was inaugurated in June 2026 through an accessible Japanese loan, along with Japanese company support for Tunisian initiatives to address climate change and promote energy transition, especially at the Rades power stations. He also pointed to progress in the bilateral investment agreement expected to be signed soon, and emphasized enhancing cultural exchange through events like the Japan Festival scheduled for the end of October 2026. This festival aims to introduce Tunisians to Japanese heritage and open new avenues for partnership between the two countries.
