Sfax Olive Festival Aims to Boost Exports
Sfax has prepared the activities of the Olive Tree Festival and Tunisian Olive Oil from October 22 to 26, aimed at boosting the export of Tunisian olive oil, particularly by improving packaging quality and marketing strategies. The festival focuses on developing the export system by reducing the export of bulk oil, which accounts for about 86% of exports, and by promoting brands and geographical indicators to protect product identity and enhance added value. The program also includes organizing a scientific forum on the role of geographical indicators in safeguarding producers and improving marketing opportunities at better prices, showcasing successful experiences such as the "Meknes Basin" indicator. Additionally, the festival emphasizes the use of artificial intelligence in marketing strategies and expanding the presence in foreign markets, alongside tourist activities to introduce visitors to oil production methods and the regional heritage. The overall goal is to support the transition from exporting bulk oil to bottled Tunisian products that are distinctive and competitive on the global stage.
