Club Africain vice-president Mehdi Milad has been vindicated in his decision to appoint Maher Kanzari as coach, replacing Fawzi Benzarti, despite fan opposition and his threat to resign if the deal was blocked. Kanzari has reshaped the team, which is now two wins away—in its postponed matches against Stade Tunisien and Progrès Sakiet Eddaïer—from taking sole possession of the league lead. He also guided the team past Mali’s Djoliba and the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s TP Mazembe to reach the group stage, ending a six-year absence.
