A condolence telegram circulating on November 7, 2026, revealed that Youssef Moussaoui, accused of killing Tunisian national Leila Ben Salem in Montreal, came from the village of Ath Ouhidan in the municipality of Boudjellil, in Algeria’s Béjaïa Province, and was 34 years old, while Canadian reports put his age at 33. Authorities charged him with first-degree murder on October 15, but he died at Montreal’s Bordeaux Prison on November 2, before his trial, leaving questions about his relationship with the victim, the motive for the crime, and the alleged financial dispute without judicial answers.
