Tunisian President Kais Saied visited the governorate of Siliana on Sunday, November 8, 2026, to mark National Tree Day. In the area of Ain Nchem, in the delegation of Bargou, he oversaw the planting of trees. He listened to residents’ concerns about the damage caused by forest fires and problems with drinking-water supplies. The fires had destroyed more than 2,000 hectares of forest cover in late August and early September, with no loss of life.
