Europe faces ongoing heatwave with high death tolls
Europe is experiencing a widespread heatwave affecting over 90 million people. The United Kingdom recorded its highest temperature in June at 36.1°C, while France registered its all-time highest temperature, with red alerts issued in more than 72 provinces. High temperatures have led to school closures, reduced transportation services, and social distancing measures in hospitals, with temperatures expected to continue decreasing. The World Health Organization has warned that the heatwave poses a risk to people's lives, while reports confirm that climate change is increasing the frequency and severity of such events.
