US Secretary of State Marco Rubio affirmed that the United States rejects Iran's attempt to impose fees for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, considering it an international waterway not subject to any country's sovereignty. He clarified that the interests of US allies in the Gulf will be a priority during negotiations with Iran, emphasizing that any agreement must respect the fact that the passage is an international strait. This comes after former President Trump stated that he would not accept Iran's imposition of fees or charges on vessels crossing the strait.
