Macron reports French Navy intercepts Russian tanker
France has confirmed that its naval forces intercepted a Russian oil tanker off the coast of Sicily, as part of its efforts to monitor and prevent Western sanctions evasion against Russia. President Emmanuel Macron stated that this action followed similar operations carried out by Britain, within a broader European effort to prevent funding Russia's war efforts through what is known as the "shadow fleet," which Moscow uses to illegally transport oil and gas. A video from the French Navy also showed soldiers descending from helicopters onto a tanker believed to be part of this fleet.
