On the anniversary of Generation Z’s second protests, Kenyans took to the streets in demonstrations in Nairobi and other cities. Authorities quickly imposed strict security measures and closed main roads to prevent marches, following the death of more than 120 people over the past two years. The protesters mainly consisted of Generation Z activists and civil society organizations, demanding transparency, justice, and commemorating the victims. Meanwhile, the government called for peaceful protests and assured the public of maintaining security. The demonstrations continue under tight security watch, in the aftermath of the 2024 protests which saw the storming of the parliament and some parts burning, resulting in over 60 deaths. Authorities have not yet released an official final death toll.
