Abeer Qawas first Palestinian Muslim woman at Sheikhs of New York

Abeer Qawas won the Democratic primary election in New York State with approximately 60% of the votes, putting her on the verge of entering the U.S. Senate. She is the first Palestinian Muslim woman to reach this level of decision-making in the United States. Qawas's campaign faced smear attacks from opponents, with her focus being on immigration issues, rising living costs, and a strong emphasis on supporting Palestinian rights. This result is considered part of a political wave in New York, backed by the city’s mayor and progressive groups.
