Morocco: Two political prisoners receive 10 and 12-year sentences

A Moroccan court sentenced Abdul Nabi Bayou to 12 years in prison and Said Nasser to 10 years in connection with an international drug trafficking case known as "Desert Escobar." They were charged with crimes of international drug trafficking, forgery, and bribery in a ruling that is the first of its kind against prominent Moroccan politicians. The case was part of a large-scale investigation involving more than 20 defendants, and their trial spanned two years, beginning in May 2024.
