Morocco: Two politicians jailed for desert drug trafficking

A Moroccan court has sentenced Abdel Nabi Biyahaoui to 12 years in prison and Saeed Nasser to 10 years in connection with an international drug trafficking case known as "The Scarab of the Sahara." The two men were accused of belonging to a network smuggling hashish from Morocco to North Africa and the Sahel region via Algeria. They were also charged with international drug trafficking, forgery, and bribery. The trial lasted two years and was based on a complaint from a Malian citizen known as "The Scarab of the Sahara," who was also convicted in a 2015 case involving the smuggling of 40 tons of drugs.
