Iran blocks ship in Hormuz, halts evacuation
An Iranian drone attack targeted a ship in the Strait of Hormuz, leading to the suspension of rescue operations for stranded sailors through the International Maritime Organization, amid an escalation of Iranian restrictions on navigation following the announcement by the United States and Iran of a temporary agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The attack caused oil prices to increase by 2%, and Iran imposed restrictions on passage through the routes it designates, reflecting heightened tensions in the region despite ongoing negotiations. Additionally, disputes continue over transit fees through the strait and the Iranian nuclear issue.
