Ecuador Declares Holiday After World Cup Qualification
Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa has decided to grant the citizens a national holiday following the country's qualification for the knockout stages of the World Cup, after the team's 2-1 victory over Germany. This came after Ecuador won their final match in Group E, during which they scored a goal to equalize after an early goal they conceded, then achieved the win to advance to the next round. This is the second time Ecuador has reached the World Cup knockout stages, after reaching the Round of 16 in 2006.
