Is Israel Applying Grey Calculus in South Lebanon
Southern Lebanon has experienced a new escalation in military activity following an operation in Bepet Yahon, in the Bint Jbeil district. Israel responded with airstrikes and artillery shelling targeting multiple areas, reflecting a rise in tensions in the region. Reports indicate that the operation resulted in injuries to several officers and soldiers, amid mutual accusations between Hezbollah and Israel of violating the ceasefire. Meanwhile, Israel is seeking to establish a long buffer zone extending up to Ali al-Tahir Heights, as it attempts to define "new rules of engagement" in the area. The region remains in continuous conflict, with ongoing military operations and escalating tensions since Israel's aggression against Lebanon began in March 2026.
