GCC Commends Oman’s Strait Evacuation Plan
Oman welcomed the announcement of providing temporary maritime routes through the Strait of Hormuz, in coordination with the International Maritime Organization, to assist in evacuating over 11,000 stranded sailors amid Iranian threats to freedom of navigation. The organization confirmed that evacuation efforts have been temporarily suspended following an attack on a vessel in the Gulf of Oman, while the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister warned that safe passage cannot be guaranteed without coordination with Iran.
