Key provisions of Lebanon-Israel framework
Israel and Lebanon, under the auspices of the United States, have signed a framework agreement aimed at strengthening peace and security between the two countries. The agreement's provisions include the withdrawal of some Israeli forces from southern Lebanon and the deployment of Lebanese forces in cooperation with American troops, with the goal of removing Iranian influence from Lebanon and countering Hezbollah's reinforcement efforts. The initial phase of the agreement will be implemented through experimental operations in two areas—north and south of the Litani River. Israel will maintain its security buffer zone in Lebanon and retain the freedom to respond to threats, while negotiations regarding the land border continue.
