The Kurdish Regional Government formation crisis remains ongoing after nearly two years since the elections. The Democratic Party, led by Massoud Barzani, and the Patriotic Union, headed by Bafel Talabani, continue to dominate the political scene, with disagreements over the distribution of positions and ministerial portfolios. Although there are alliances with smaller parties such as "New Generation," disagreements between the two main parties continue to hinder the formation of the new parliament and government. There is a possibility of new elections if the political deadlock persists.
