The Syrian Ministry of Culture canceled the concert of artist Shadi Jamil, which was scheduled to take place at the Damascus Opera House, following widespread controversy and statements from the Minister of Culture emphasizing that previous support for the regime does not permit artists to return to the stage before issuing an apology. This stance was due to the artist's past supportive positions towards the previous regime and his earlier performances for President Bashar al-Assad. The decision came amid ongoing discussions about the standards for holding cultural events and accountability for the authorities issuing permits.
