Israel and Lebanon have signed a framework agreement in Washington aimed at ending the fighting on the Lebanese front. The agreement includes the disarmament of non-state armed groups, dismantling their infrastructure, a gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces, and the full restoration of Lebanese army control over its territories, starting with two pilot regions. The agreement also affirms that Israel has no regional ambitions in Lebanon and encourages efforts for reconstruction and support for the Lebanese economy, with Lebanon committed not to channel reconstruction funds to armed groups.
