A cargo ship off the coast of Oman was targeted by an unidentified projectile on Monday while passing through the Strait of Hormuz, leading to the suspension of an evacuation plan for over 11,000 stranded sailors amid escalating maritime tensions. The International Maritime Organization stated that the incident caused a temporary halt to operations to ensure safety, although commercial traffic in the strait is gradually resuming. The incident is linked to tensions between the United States and Iran, as concerns about maritime security intensify following previous attacks and Iran's ban on ship passage, despite a recent memorandum of understanding signed to open maritime routes.
