The Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms documented the ongoing widespread violations committed by the Houthi group, including torture inside their prisons. Since 2018 up to 2026, there have been 1,893 reported cases of torture, resulting in the deaths of 394 detainees. Additionally, 218 others have been permanently disabled due to injuries sustained, and 32 cases involved extrajudicial killings. The group controls approximately 739 prisons, of which 382 are official and 357 are secret. They use detention as a means of pressuring opponents, with allegations of systematic torture under the supervision of group leaders. Calls have been made for an independent international investigation to hold those responsible accountable.
