The European Commission has decided to turn off the air conditioning system on the lower floors of its headquarters in Brussels, causing discontent among employees who described the action as "feudal." Employees were informed that the shutdown was due to severe weather conditions, while the upper floors where the commissioners' offices are located continue to be cooled. Belgium has recorded its highest temperatures since the start of 2026, reaching 35.3°C, as the heatwave remains intense and the alert status remains in effect.
