Relations between Turkey and NATO have improved, evidenced by the arrest of 178 individuals on charges related to terrorism ahead of the NATO summit scheduled to be held in Ankara in July, which will be attended by 32 world leaders, including U.S. President Donald Trump. The arrests followed anti-terror raids targeting journalists, academics, lawyers, and civil activists, all of whom face formal charges. Additionally, 34 others have been released under judicial supervision. Reports indicate that some of those detained include prominent figures such as the editor-in-chief of a magazine and environmental activists. Others have been questioned about their political activities and alleged involvement in banned organizations.
