The Iraqi government announced a wide-ranging security and judicial campaign that led to the arrest of numerous suspects involved in financial and administrative corruption cases, including deputies and officials who had their immunity lifted. This comes weeks after the Parliament granted confidence to Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaydi's government. The measures follow investigations into the former Deputy Minister of Oil, revealing a network involved in corruption related to fictitious contracts and investments. During the operations, large sums of money and assets were seized, including millions of dollars and five billion dinars hidden away, along with confiscated properties, vehicles, and gold jewelry. The government continues its efforts to recover illicitly smuggled funds and combat financial corruption, as part of measures to enhance integrity and efficiency in the management of the state.
