Sony to stop producing PlayStation discs

Sony has announced that it will cease releasing new physical disc-based games for PlayStation starting in 2028, as part of a move to promote digital distribution. Data shows that approximately 80% of PlayStation 5 games are currently purchased digitally. Additionally, Sony will shut down the digital storefronts for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita by mid-next year, preventing digital purchases for these two devices.
