Infantino and FIFA face scrutiny over spending
The report focuses on the massive spending by FIFA during the 2026 World Cup, including renting extravagant offices in Trump Tower in New York at a cost of up to $40,000 per month, and utilizing luxury hotels costing millions of dollars. Despite the tournament’s projected revenue exceeding $11 billion, hundreds of millions are being spent on hotels and transportation, with varying criticisms about inflated costs and the decline of the sport’s essence in favor of commercial interests. The report notes that a large portion of the revenue is allocated to developing football worldwide, but criticisms are growing regarding the increasing focus on money.
