Jordanian Labor Minister Resigns Over Tender Conflicts
The political and parliamentary circles circulated the news of Jordanian Minister of Labor Khaled Bakaar's resignation, which was requested by Prime Minister Jafar Husseini on June 28. The resignation was prompted by a conflict of interest related to government tenders submitted by the minister's son. The decision to dismiss him was based on legal procedures linked to the ministerial code of conduct, following the referral of one of the tenders, and also included the termination of a cleaning company owned by the minister's son in cooperation with the Ministry of Health. This comes amid widespread controversy over the Social Security Law draft, which has ignited intense debates regarding its nature and amendments to ensure the financial institution's sustainability.
