Bassil praises Lebanon-Israel talks
The leader of the Lebanese Free Patriotic Movement, Gebran Bassil, affirmed that negotiations with Israel are considered a strategic alternative pathway to war. He rejected any agreement that includes a surrender formula and undermines Lebanon's sovereignty, especially concerning clauses related to the disarmament of Hezbollah and remaining within the "yellow" security zone. He also cautioned that the current framework agreement imposes broad obligations on Lebanon without clear guarantees of Israeli withdrawal. Furthermore, it is linked to sensitive internal issues such as the relationship between the army and Hezbollah. Bassil criticized the performance of the presidency and the government in managing this file and warned that the benefits of the agreement may conflict with national sovereignty and lack definitive time guarantees or explicit American commitments.
