Britain has tightened its rules regarding foreign political donations, requiring candidates to disclose any amounts exceeding £2,230 received before running for office, and to prove that the funding came from legitimate sources. These measures are part of efforts to protect elections from foreign interference, especially from countries like Russia, China, and Iran. The rules also restrict donations from individuals residing outside the UK for more than a year if they amount to £100,000 or more. Additionally, Nigel Farage, leader of the Reform UK party, is now under investigation for receiving donations from foreign donors, including allegations that he received benefits from businessmen involved in cryptocurrencies before running for Parliament.
