Joseph Blatter, the former president of the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA), criticized the potential intervention of U.S. President Donald Trump in the decision to lift the suspension on American national team player Folarin Balogun. Balogun was sent off in his World Cup match but was later allowed to participate after his suspension was suspended. Blatter emphasized that decisions should follow rules and evidence, warning against turning football into a battleground for political influence, amid reports of Trump contacting FIFA President Gianni Infantino to support the player's return. Balogun is a key player for the U.S. team, and his participation aims to boost the team's chances of reaching the quarter-finals for the first time since 2002.
