A parliamentary committee in Malaysia will hold a hearing on July 16 to review a $96 million deal with an Australian company to supply rare earth elements, amid protests and accusations that the materials are used in the manufacturing of weapons employed by Israel in its war on Gaza. The session aims to investigate the details of the deal and ensure it does not violate local policies, with a focus on whether the elements are being used for renewable energy or weapons. The protests included gatherings demanding transparency and an expanded discussion on mineral supply, as the Gaza conflict continues, leading to the death of thousands of Palestinians.
