The Israeli Knesset approved a bill to establish a "political" investigative committee into the events of October 7, 2023, despite a boycott by the opposition, which accused the government of trying to cover up the failures that accompanied the attack. The bill received the support of 59 members out of 120, with no opposition votes. It aims for the Prime Minister to appoint half of the committee members, while the opposition appoints the other half, a move that has sparked widespread criticism. The opposition described it as a cover-up committee designed to obstruct the uncovering of the truth. The bill still requires three readings before becoming law.
