Islamabad has begun mediating between Eastern and Western Libya to end the ongoing political and military division since 2014, in parallel with a U.S. initiative to resolve the crisis. These moves are part of the implementation of the American initiative and coincided with a meeting in Washington attended by officials from both sides.
