The occupied city of Ceuta witnessed a record influx of migrants from Morocco, with more than 60,000 people attempting to cross the border in just a few days, resulting in the deaths of 34 individuals and the loss of dozens more. Spain and Morocco responded to this crisis by halting group crossings and sending security reinforcements. Meanwhile, Spain announced that more than half of those who arrived in Ceuta had voluntarily returned to Morocco. In this context, Italy commented on the Schengen Agreement with Spain and announced an extension of border checks, while France increased surveillance along its border with Spain. The Spanish Prime Minister described the wave as a "violation of sovereignty," and the unprecedented flow has led to widespread humanitarian and security crises, raising concerns in Europe about border control and illegal migration.
