Counter-terrorism teams from the Aydın Province Security Directorate in Turkey managed to apprehend a former pilot officer accused of participating in the attempted assassination of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during the failed coup in July 2016. The arrest operation was carried out against the suspect, named B. K., who is considered one of the individuals listed on the red notice, in the city of Marmaris after locating his hiding place within the province. It is worth noting that the coup attempt was orchestrated by the Gülen Movement led by Fethullah Gülen, resulting in the death of 253 people. The Turkish government has declared July 15th each year as Democracy and National Unity Day.
