Maritime Authority reports explosion near oil tanker off Oman
The British Maritime Trade Operations (DMO) reported a large explosion near an oil tanker off the coast of Oman, 21 nautical miles from Khasab, with no damage sustained by the vessel. Another tanker, located 11 nautical miles northeast of Lima in Oman, was also hit by an unidentified projectile, causing damage to the engine room and a loss of control, but no injuries or environmental damage occurred. This comes amid escalating military tensions between the United States and Iran, with reports indicating that Washington and Israel are planning to carry out attacks on Iranian energy infrastructure targets following the failure to reach an agreement between Tehran and Washington.
