Lebanese Army Faces Challenges in South

The article discusses the repercussions of implementing the Model Region Agreement between Lebanon and Israel. The agreement began with the reduction of Israeli forces in southern Lebanon amidst continued Israeli violations and Hezbollah's refusal to accept the pact. The Lebanese army faces numerous challenges, including ongoing Israeli attacks such as bombings and shelling, which hinder its operations. Additionally, it faces logistical difficulties, such as a lack of electricity and water, as well as the destruction of many areas, which increases the cost of military operations. The army also struggles with house searches due to the absence of judicial permits, along with issues arising from the overlapping of occupied and liberated areas, Israel’s refusal to withdraw from Eastern Zawtar, and difficulties in deployment and movement within intertwined zones. Experts are calling for increased pressure on Israel to ensure the implementation of the understandings and to strengthen support for the Lebanese army.
