Tensions are escalating in the Tigray region of Ethiopia, with reports of military attacks by the federal government on areas in the western part of the region, near the border with Sudan. The Tigray People's Liberation Front accuses the government of escalating rhetoric and mobilizing forces. Statements indicate that heavy weapons have been used in the clashes, and sources fear that this escalation could lead to a regional war involving Eritrea and Sudan, especially given the worsening financial situation in the region and the resurgence of fighting after the signing of a peace agreement in 2022. With the Tigray People's Liberation Front losing influence, there are concerns about the potential danger this poses to the entire area.
