Brentford Football Club announced the official signing of Malian player Mamadou Sangaré from French club Lens in a record deal valued at approximately £39 million (more than $52 million), making it the most expensive transfer in the club's history. Sangaré signed a five-year contract with an option to extend for an additional year, as part of the club's plan to strengthen the midfield ahead of the 2026-2027 season, especially with the upcoming departure of Jordan Henderson. The 24-year-old player will wear the team's jersey at the start of the Premier League season in the match against Tottenham Hotspur. He is known for his versatility in playing both defensive and attacking midfield roles, with a distinguished record at Lens and the Mali national team, where he has won the France Cup twice and was named African Player of the Year in the French Ligue 1. Sangaré's development from his career in Austria to becoming a key, record-breaking player is widely recognized, and he is viewed as one of the rising talents in African football. He is expected to be a central figure in Brentford's lineup next season.
