Antonio Silva backs Bournemouth defense from Benfica
English Premier League club Bournemouth has announced the signing of Portuguese defender Antonio Silva from Benfica for approximately £25.7 million (around $35 million). The transfer aims to strengthen the defense ahead of their first season in European competition. Silva, who is 22 years old, brings extensive experience from his time with Benfica and the Portugal national team, and is considered one of Europe's most promising young defenders. The club's goal with this signing is to replace the recent departure of defender Senesi and to prepare for the new season, which kicks off with a match against Manchester City on August 23, with expectations for Silva to feature in the team's first European tournament.
