Gaza ceasefire weakens with strikes
Efforts to establish a temporary ceasefire in the Gaza Strip failed due to continued Israeli airstrikes that resulted in deaths and injuries. Israel opposed halting the strikes, emphasizing its focus on targeting militant groups. The country expressed reservations about the "roadmap" announced by U.S. President Donald Trump, refused to allow Qatar and Turkey to participate in the verification committee, and considered there were restrictions on the Israeli military's movement in areas to be managed by international forces. Meanwhile, Hamas received assurances that the ceasefire would begin soon, but was surprised by the ongoing bombardment. Their negotiations focused on containing their reservations in coordination with Islamic Jihad in Cairo.
