Trump's blockade plunges Cuba into darkness
The National Electricity Company of Cuba announced a complete power outage on Monday night, plunging the country into darkness and affecting the lives of approximately 10 million people. This blackout follows a series of power outages in July and reflects the deteriorating energy sector resulting from the U.S. oil embargo imposed since the beginning of the year, which has led to fuel shortages and a decline in the operations of the old Soviet-era power plants. The residents, including carpenter Julian Gonzalez, are living in a tragic situation due to prolonged and frequent power cuts that sometimes last up to 30 hours, amidst difficulties in importing fuel and supplying backup generators, all amid a severe economic crisis and political tensions.
